Early Closure Notification

The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is always our highest priority. In exceptional circumstances, such as severe weather, loss of essential services, or other unforeseen events, it may be necessary for the school to close earlier than the normal end of the school day.

How we communicate an early closure

Should an early closure be required, parents and carers will be informed through the following channels:

  • Email sent to the primary parent/carer contacts held on our school records.
  • A notice published in the school Sway newsletter
  • Information shared directly with students during the school day.

We ask all parents and carers to ensure that the school holds up-to-date contact details, including email addresses and emergency contacts.

Collection arrangements

Where possible, students will remain in school until suitable collection arrangements have been made. Parents and carers should:

  • Inform the school if their child can travel home independently.
  • Ensure that the school is aware of any alternative adult who may collect their child.
  • Make every effort to collect their child promptly if requested.

No student will be sent home unless appropriate arrangements are in place.

Students unable to be collected immediately

We recognise that some parents and carers may be unable to collect their child immediately. In these circumstances:

  • Students will remain supervised by school staff.
  • A safe indoor space will be provided until collection can be arranged.
  • The school will maintain communication with parents and carers as required.

Transport

Where students normally travel by school transport, the school will work closely with transport providers and communicate any revised arrangements as soon as possible.

Further Information

Any updates relating to the early closure, including arrangements for the following school day if applicable, will be communicated via email and published through the school’s Sway newsletter.

We appreciate the support and cooperation of parents and carers in helping us ensure the safety of all students during exceptional circumstances.
